Repair & Relocation
Damaged, crushed or badly routed vents repaired — or moved to a better path entirely, when the existing run is the real problem.
Dryer vent repair & relocation in Jacksonville, St. Johns, Nocatee and surrounding areas
In most homes the dryer vent is the one system nobody thinks about until something goes wrong. But a damaged or clogged vent is a genuine safety hazard — it's the leading cause of dryer fires, and on a gas dryer it can affect how safely combustion gases leave the house.
As a veteran-owned, family-operated business, we take pride in repair and relocation work that leaves your vent running the way it should, so you don't have to think about it again.
The signs your vent needs attention
- Clothes taking longer than usual to dry: If a load needs two cycles when it used to need one, that's restricted airflow — from lint buildup, debris, or a damaged section of duct.
- Burning smell: A burning smell while the dryer runs can mean lint is sitting against something hot. This one shouldn't wait.
- Excessive heat in the laundry room: A properly vented dryer shouldn't be heating the room. A noticeable temperature rise usually means the hot air isn't getting out.
- Visible lint buildup: Check the lint trap and the area behind the dryer. Excess lint means the system isn't carrying it out to the termination.
What we repair
- Clearing clogs and debris: Rotary brush and high-power vacuum through the full duct run, wall to hood.
- Repairing or replacing damaged duct: Crushed, disconnected or corroded sections rebuilt with rigid metal duct to code.
- Replacing crushed transition hoses: The flexible hose behind the dryer is the most commonly damaged part of the whole system, and the easiest to get wrong.
When relocation is the right answer
Sometimes the duct isn't damaged — it's just routed badly. A run with too many bends, or one that travels much further than it needs to, will keep causing problems no matter how often it's cleaned. Every 90° elbow effectively costs you five feet of allowable duct length, and a long, winding path is where lint settles.
In those cases we assess the whole layout and recommend a shorter, straighter path — weighing safety, efficiency and what's practical in your home. It isn't just about fixing what broke; it's about making sure it stops breaking.
Code, briefly
Under the International Residential Code, the maximum permitted dryer duct length is 25 feet, reduced by 2½ feet for each 45° bend and 5 feet for each 90° bend. Duct should be a minimum of 4 inches in diameter with a smooth interior. If your current run doesn't meet that, we'll tell you — and show you the measurements.
How do I know if my vent needs a repair or a full re-route?
An inspection tells you. A camera look inside the duct and an airflow measurement show whether a damaged section can be fixed in place or whether the layout will keep restricting airflow however often it's cleaned.
From there it comes down to a short list of options: cleaning only, cleaning plus a repair or hardware upgrade, or a re-route. We show you the reading and the photos first, then make a recommendation. You decide which way to go.
Do I need a permit to re-route a dryer vent?
It depends. The rules for re-routes and roof work may vary by jurisdiction.
Requirements can differ from one city or county to the next, so it's worth confirming for your address before a re-route is scheduled.
Is repair and relocation work guaranteed?
Yes. Our work carries a 3-month workmanship warranty and a money-back guarantee: if we can't fix the issue, we refund.
The airflow test at the end of the job is part of how we hold to that. It shows whether the repaired or relocated vent is moving air the way it should before we leave.

A clogged dryer vent is a fire waiting to happen.
Lint is highly flammable, and it builds up where you can't see it. We clean the full run, and test the airflow so you know the job is done right.
