Cleaning Interior of Dryer

Lint doesn't only collect in the vent line — we open the cabinet and clear the drum housing, blower and heating element too.

Cleaning the interior of your dryer in Jacksonville and St. Johns County

Most people assume the lint trap catches everything. It doesn't. A meaningful share of every load slips past the screen and settles inside the cabinet — packed around the drum housing, along the blower wheel, and on the heating element itself. The vent line can be spotless and that lint will still be sitting there.

Opening the machine is a separate job from cleaning the duct, and it's one we do regularly. If your dryer is running hot, taking longer than it used to, or you've never had the cabinet opened in ten years of ownership, this is the service you're looking for.

What we actually do

We pull the dryer out, disconnect it, and open the cabinet so we can reach the areas a vacuum hose down the lint chute will never touch.

  • Drum housing and surround: Lint compacts in the gap between the drum and the outer shell, where it sits closest to the heat.
  • Blower wheel and housing: A lint-loaded blower moves less air, which is often the real reason a dryer has slowed down.
  • Heating element and thermostat area: Lint on or near the element is the part that matters most for safety.
  • Lint chute and trap housing: The full path from the screen down, not just the visible section.
  • Underneath and behind: Where the accumulated debris that's been shedding for years actually lives.

Why it's worth doing

  • Safety: Lint is combustible, and inside the cabinet it sits directly against the hottest components in the machine. Removing it removes the fuel.
  • Efficiency: A clean blower and a clear airflow path mean the dryer moves the moisture out instead of recirculating hot, damp air.
  • Appliance life: Heat that can't escape stresses the motor, the element and the electronics. Dryers that run cooler last longer.
  • Your clothing: Excess heat and long cycles are hard on fabric. Shorter, cooler cycles are gentler on everything you own.

How it pairs with a vent cleaning

Interior cleaning and vent cleaning solve different halves of the same problem, and doing both at once is how you get the full benefit. If we're already out at your home for the duct run, adding the cabinet is straightforward — and we'll show you before-and-after photos of what came out of each.

How do I know lint has built up inside my dryer cabinet?

The usual clues are a dryer that takes longer to dry a load, a cabinet that feels hotter than normal, or a burning smell while it runs. None of these proves interior lint alone, but each is worth checking.

Lint showing up around the door seal or on the floor under the machine can also mean lint is escaping its normal path. If the vent has been cleaned recently and drying is still slow, the inside of the cabinet is the next place to look.

Can I clean the inside of my dryer myself?

You can clean the lint screen and the opening it slides into. Reaching the blower, the drum surround and the heating element means unplugging the dryer, moving it and taking the cabinet apart, which is a different job.

Cleaning the screen after every load is still a good habit, and so is checking the edges of the trap housing for lint that has slipped past. A gas dryer also has a gas connection that has to be handled when the machine is moved, which is one more reason to leave the cabinet to a professional.

Will cleaning the inside help if my vent is already clean?

Yes, it can. A clean vent clears the path outside the house, but lint left on the blower or around the drum still restricts airflow and holds heat inside the machine. Cleaning both restores the whole air path.

Lint that settles inside the cabinet never reaches the duct, so a vent cleaning alone won't remove it. You get photos of the cabinet before and after, so you can judge the difference yourself.

Why it matters

A clogged dryer vent is a fire waiting to happen.

Lint is highly flammable, and it builds up where you can't see it. We clean the full run, and test the airflow so you know the job is done right.
