This is the page for the situation where you know something is wrong and do not yet know what. You do not have to arrive at a diagnosis before you call — working out which part of the system is at fault is our job, not yours.

Start here when the symptom is clear but the cause is not

Most calls begin as a description rather than a diagnosis: clothes still damp after a full cycle, a dryer too hot to rest a hand on, a burning smell, a laundry room that feels like a greenhouse, a machine tripping its thermal cutoff mid-load, a rattle or whistle from inside the wall. Any of those can come from the vent, from the appliance, or from how the two are connected — and the useful first step is finding out which.

Vent or dryer? How we tell

This is the question worth answering before anyone spends money, because the two failures produce nearly identical symptoms and only one of them is ours to fix.

The test is airflow at the termination with the dryer running. Strong flow at the vent with poor drying points at the appliance — a worn heating element, a failed thermostat, a tired blower. Weak flow means the restriction is in the duct, and the camera then locates it. If the answer is the appliance, we tell you that plainly and do not sell you a vent service you do not need. We would rather be the company that told you the truth than the one that took the invoice.

What a service visit includes

  • An airflow measurement at the termination, as the baseline everything else is judged against.
  • Inspection of the transition duct and the dryer connection — crushing here is the single most common cause and the fastest to fix.
  • Camera inspection of the concealed run when the readings indicate a restriction further along.
  • Examination of the exterior hood for lint paste, nesting, or louvers that have stopped moving.
  • A check of the route itself for length, elbow count and pitch, since a system that clogs repeatedly usually has a design reason.

Then you decide

You get the findings, the footage and the readings, and a plain statement of what would fix it — a cleaning, a targeted repair, a re-route, a new termination, or in some cases nothing at all. Where there are two legitimate options at different price points, you hear both. Being prior home inspectors, we are more comfortable explaining a system than upselling one.

Same-day and emergency visits

Same-day and emergency slots run 7am to 3pm. Worth using promptly if you smell burning, if the dryer is shutting itself off on thermal overload, or if the machine is too hot to touch — those are conditions to stop using the appliance over, not to schedule around. Call (904) 426-2036 and a technician answers rather than a phone tree.

Service area

Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra, Nocatee and the rest of St. Johns County, plus the surrounding Northeast Florida communities. Local, veteran-owned, and the owner personally shows up.

Common questions

What if the problem turns out to be the dryer? We tell you, and where the fault sits. We do not repair appliances, which is precisely why our read on it is worth having.

Can you come the same day? Often, within the 7am–3pm window. Call and we will tell you honestly what today looks like.

Do you charge to diagnose? We will be clear about the visit cost when you book. No surprises on the driveway.

Why it matters

A clogged dryer vent is a fire waiting to happen.

Lint is highly flammable, and it builds up where you can't see it. We clean the full run, and test the airflow so you know the job is done right.
