Dryer Vent Cleaning

The full inspection-and-clean, from the lint trap to the exterior hood — with an airflow test and photo proof.

Dryer vent cleaning is the core of what we do. Lint escapes the screen on every cycle and settles along the duct, and because none of it is visible from the laundry room the buildup goes unnoticed until the dryer starts behaving badly. Cleaning the full run — not just the accessible ends — is what restores airflow and removes the fuel.

What the lint screen does not catch

The screen captures a portion of the lint your clothes shed. The rest travels into the duct, where warm moist air deposits it against the walls, at every elbow, and anywhere the run sags. In Northeast Florida's humidity it does not stay fluffy — damp lint packs into a dense layer that clings, which is why vents here need attention sooner than in dry climates. That layer narrows the duct, airflow drops, and each cycle deposits more.

FEMA attributes roughly 2,900 clothes-dryer fires a year in U.S. homes. Failure to clean is the leading cause. Lint is highly flammable and a restricted vent traps exactly the heat that ignites it.

Our process

  1. Measure first. Airflow at the termination with the dryer running, so there is a starting number rather than an assumption.
  2. Inspect the run. We establish the path, length and material, and check the termination. Where the readings suggest something beyond lint, a camera goes down the duct.
  3. Clean the full length. Rotating brushes sized to your duct diameter, driven the whole run, with vacuum extraction at the source so lint leaves with us instead of settling in your laundry room.
  4. Clean the transition separately. The flexible section behind the dryer is pulled and cleaned on its own. It is the highest-accumulation point in the system and the most frequently skipped.
  5. Clear the termination. The hood gets cleaned and its damper checked for full open and full close — a clean duct behind a pasted-shut hood is still a blocked vent.
  6. Re-measure and reconnect. Airflow measured again under the same conditions, the dryer reconnected and sealed properly, and the appliance left with enough clearance that the transition is not crushed when it goes back.

What you get in writing

Before-and-after photos of the duct interior and the termination, plus the two airflow readings. The photos show what came out; the numbers show what changed. If the readings do not improve, the duct was not the problem and we will tell you what is — that outcome is uncommon but it happens, and it is more useful to you than a cleaning that changes nothing.

What improves

  • Cycle time. Restored airflow means one cycle instead of two — usually the first thing customers notice.
  • Fire risk. The accumulated fuel is gone and heat has somewhere to go.
  • Energy use. A dryer that finishes sooner runs its heating element for less time on every load.
  • Appliance life. Heat that cannot escape cooks the element, thermostat and thermal fuse. Venting properly is how you avoid replacing parts early.
  • Laundry room humidity. Moisture that was leaking into the room now leaves the building.

How often

Annually for most households. Twice a year if you run frequent loads, have shedding pets, or have a long or elbow-heavy duct run. Do not wait for the interval if you notice clothes needing a second cycle, a dryer hot to the touch, a burning or musty smell, lint appearing around the door seal, or a termination hood that no longer flutters open.

When cleaning is not the whole answer

Sometimes the duct is clean and the system still underperforms — a crushed transition, a separated joint, a run that is too long or pitched uphill, or a hood that has failed. We measure precisely so we can tell the difference, and we will show you the readings rather than simply recommending more work. Repairs, re-routes, recessed dryer boxes and termination upgrades all exist for the cases where cleaning alone cannot fix the cause.

Why it matters

A clogged dryer vent is a fire waiting to happen.

Lint is highly flammable, and it builds up where you can't see it. We clean the full run, and test the airflow so you know the job is done right.
